9:05 a.m. update: We just returned from a drive around the neighborhood, and while the conditions are icy and very bumpy in spots, the main arterial roads are the best we’ve seen them over the last few days.
This is Market St. up over the hill. Traffic is moving smoothly.
And looking down Market to Ballard Ave. The freeways are also moving smoothly, and as you’ll read in comments below, driving to downtown or the Eastside is not beyond the realm of possibility. But still, the roadways are slick, the side streets are still treacherous, and some drivers appear to be getting a little over-confident out there. So please be careful.
