After much speculation, King County Executive Ron Sims confirmed he’s headed to DC to become the deputy secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The King County Council now must appoint a temporary replacement through November, and King County Councilmember Larry Phillips, who represents Ballard and surrounding neighborhoods, is the only person who’s expressed an interest in replacing him.
