We just returned from the Leif Erikson Lodge where a good crowd enjoyed Norwegian treats, crafts and music. It’s all part of Norwegian Cultural Heritage Day at the lodge with the theme, “Tastes of Norway.”
The event featured traditional Norwegian cooking and craft demonstrations.
Including an old-fashioned pickled herring taste off! The original Ballard sushi. A few more photos of food and entertainment follow below…
Mmmmm. Krumkake.
And lefsa on the grill.
Women wearing bunads, the traditional Norwegian folk costume.
And one of the many crafts.

I think that Celebrating Norwegian Cultural Heritage Day is a great idea. I think we should celebrate our heritage. It’s important to know where you come from and what your ancestors did. I also think it’s good to have an event where Norwegians can gather together and celebrate their culture. I usually suggest my students to read articles like https://graduateway.com/essay-examples/cultural-identity/ so that they can learn the significance of cultural identity. I’m not sure how I feel about the idea of making this an official holiday though. What do you think?
