Summer kickoff at Salmon Bay Park

It was a beautiful summer day for the 2nd annual Beginning of Summer Bash at Salmon Bay Park.

The street was closed and neighbors brought out tables, chairs and a barbecue to celebrate the season.

There were games for kids, music and of course it wouldn’t be a party without the giant inflatable castle for the kids to jump in.

  1. While a great idea, why couldn't this inflatable castle been stuck over on the grass, and in the actual park? Why do people have to shut streets for 30 people? We drove by. We saw the masses, not. Much like the silly night-out program that nets the same hand-full of folks every year, I just don't get it. More community organizers. Great. Somewhere in Kenya a village is missing an idiot.

  2. this city needs a lot more events like this, and a lot less people like sdrake who cry because they have to detour their cars a WHOLE CITY BLOCK so others can have a good time. i stopped by with my two daughters (we just happened to be on a walk back from the salmon bay school playfield, and we were pleasantly suprised by this little gathering. i thought it was really cool how they had drums and other instruments set up for people to play on.
