Police responded to a report of an armed robbery at the KFC on Market St. near 14th Ave. just after 9 p.m. on Sunday.
Officers searched the immediate area for the suspect, who reportedly displayed a black gun that a KFC employee said “looked fake.”
According to the SPD Blotter, the suspect took all the cash from the register and left. K9 were called in, but was unsuccessful because of the foot traffic. Fortunately, no one was hurt. We arrived a few minutes after the robbery, and we observed police taking a man into custody just behind the restaurant. We don’t know if this is related to the robbery. (Thanks Silver for your help!)

Silver has me listening to the police scanner now… :D
The more the merrier!
We should establish shifts.
so, instead of running away, the suspect just hid behind the dumpster?
I'm sure the colonel would be proud!
Maybe the gun was a Glock. I have always thought they look kind of fake.
There is a KFC on Market Street? I never noticed.
wow i was in there a few hours before.
what frequencies are you folks listening to (re: scanners).
Is the guy they arrested even the suspect? I think you can find someone to arrest for something around there if you just look around for a few minutes, so was this guy the unlucky recipient of police response, or the guy who robbed the place?
Looks like they were dusting for prints. The light it pretty good in there, too, so they can probably ID him. They may also have surveillance video.
If he made off with any money and still had it on him, that would be a major clue, as well.
Hopefully the Swedes will follow up for us!
The frequencies won't help you. Seattle police and fire are on a trunked system which is frustratingly more complicated. If you get a trunking scanner I'll be happy to help you figure it out.
There are live feeds available on the internet for Seattle Police and Fire, but you can't control what you hear. So if you're trying to listen to a particular incident response you're likely to miss most of it.
Has anyone in ballard nominated the KFC as Landmark or historical desigination. its a lovely piece of history with so many memories for me.
I was wondering if there was any comment from the police that this was a suspect in the robbery, or they found a random guy who happened to be doing something else, like shooting up behind KFC while they were there.
According to the SPD blotter the suspect is still at large, so whoever they did arrest last night seems to be unrelated.
On the Sunset Bowl side of Market.
We'll see. The usual suspects that hang out behind the KFC are by and large white or Native American.
I'll be interested to see what happens with this.
How does one go about doing that?
It has been a few decades since I've stepped foot into that KFC.
Granted the face is blurred but the guy in the picture appears to be white.
Not a god time to be hanging out behind the KFC.
Maybe they arrested him for eating there. I think it's a crime in most states…
