One man was taken to the hospital tonight after a house fire on the 8300 block of 23rd Ave NW. The fire was called out just after 11:15 p.m. and sixteen fire units were dispatched to the scene.
When we arrived shortly after 11:30 p.m., medics were treating a 57-year-old man and preparing to take him to Harborview with non life threatening injuries.
While the fire appeared to be out, smoke was coming from the house and firefighters were on the roof with chainsaws. Around 11:45 p.m. it came across that the fire was officially out.
According to Dana Vander Howen with the Seattle Fire Department says that when firefighters first arrive on scene, flames were showing from the second story of the home. A fire investigator has been called to the scene. According to Seattle Fire, the fire was caused by bedding left too close to baseboard heater. The damage estimate is $125,000.

I'm glad no one was seriously hurt. How scary. :(
I also can't believe the Geeky Swedes trekked out there at such a late hour to take photos and get information! Good job, Swedes! (I know it's not late to most of you but I've seen a baby creep into the Geeky Swedes photos if I remember correctly and sleep is sooooo valuable with one of those guys in your house)
That's three nights running that there have been late night stories to cover.
I stay at home in my bathrobe and fuzzy slippers while you go out and do real coverage!
Thanks for all that you do. ;-)
By the way, I heard that Red Cross had been called to the scene to help the residents.
