The weekend events calendar

“Rain at times” is what the local meteorologists are saying about this weekend’s weather, so plan accordingly.

  • At 9 a.m. Saturday Groundswell NW is hosting a Salmon Bay/Burke Gilman Trail Work Party. Meet at the Salmon Bay Natural Area next to The Canal just east of the Locks. Help plant trees and pick up litter. Coffee & treats provided.
  • The North Seattle School Fair is Saturday morning from 9 to 11 a.m. Hear about the different public and private options for elementary and middle school. St. Alphonsus School Cafeteria (5816 15th Ave NW).
  • The 4th Annual Norwegian Genealogy Workshop will be held on Saturday at the Leif Erikson Lodge (2245 NW 57th Street) from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. $20 for members/$30 for non-members.
  • The 14th Ave NW Adopt-A-Street clean-up is on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Meet at Blowing Sands Glass (5801 14th Ave NW). This is also an opportunity to prepare the street for the upcoming planter project.
  • The 5th Annual Boys & Girls Club auction is Saturday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The evening includes a silent and live auction, bbq dinner, beverages (beer, wine, sodas and juice) and entertainment. Auction items include condos, golf, trips, Mariners and Sounders tickets and more.
  • The Ballard Lions is holding its annual Crab Feed fundraising dinner to benefit the Ballard Community on Saturday. Doors and bar open at 6 p.m., crab served at 7 p.m. until it’s gone. The event will be on the 2nd floor of the Shilshole Bay Beach Club in the Ballard ELKS facility ( 6411 Seaview Ave NW). Cost is $25.
  • Here’s a photo op for you. On Sunday from noon to 12:15 p.m. the Rat City Roller Girls “will spin, glide, pivot and block with deft precision cheered on by a team of dozen dancing carrots” at the Farmers Market to promote eating local. This is the kickoff for the Cascade Harvest Coalition’s 3rd annual Take the Pledge & Eat Local for Thanksgiving campaign.
