Norwegian Ladies live in Ballard and Norway

After falling in love on a trip to Trondheim, Norway with the Norwegian Ladies Chorus, Caroline Sleipnes Kjenstad sadly gave up the singing group to move to the Scandinavian country. “I miss her,” Victoria Sangrey Hunter tells us, “Thank goodness for Facebook, email and Skype!” With that, Victoria’s husband Tim had a high-tech idea to bring the annual Holiday Concert to their old chorus-mate.

This Sunday as the Ladies Chorus sings at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran church (2400 NW 85th St.), Caroline will also be in the audience watching the entire concert via Skype’s online video conferencing. “She misses the chorus and when Tim and I Skyped her on Saturday she was very excited at the possibility of listening to us,” Victoria says.

The annual Holiday Concert starts at 3 p.m. (midnight in Norway) and will feature both English and Scandinavian songs . Following the performance will be a Scandinavian dessert buffet reception, with goodies handmade by chorus members. “It’s a great way to get into the holiday spirit!” chorus member Jehan Moulton-Kyllo says. There is a $10 suggested donation. Unfortunately for Caroline, the handmade treats can’t be Skyped.
