The weekend events calendar

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! From the frosty rooftops to the Jolly man in red, Ballard is full of great holiday activities.

  • Santa is coming to Ballard! He’ll be at Marvin Gardens Park on Ballard Avenue listening to what kids want for Christmas from 4-8 p.m. Explore a fire truck, sip hot beverages, and view twinkling lights and trees in the park. Santa photos by Jay Dotson Photography $5, with proceeds benefiting the Ballard Food Bank. The Ballard Food Bank will also be accepting donations. (Jay Dotson is a sponsor of MyBallard). Don’t forget that Santa parks Dasher and Blitzen up at Swanson’s Nursery.
  • The Not-Its, a Ballard-based singing group, is performing on Sunday at 11am at The Vera Project–NW corner of Seattle Center at the intersection of Warren Ave N & Republican (We know it’s not Ballard, but this is a great fun family activity and supports Ballardites) $5 per person or $15 per family.
  • Celebrate the season with a holiday harp concert from the NW Youth Harp Ensemble at the Ballard Library on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. Nine members of the NW Youth Harp Ensemble will perform holiday favorites under the direction of Susi Hussong.
  • Also on Sunday is the Norwegian Women’s Chorus of Seattle’s annual Holiday Concert 3 p.m. at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church (2400 NW 85th St). There is a $10 suggested donation.
  • Don’t forget about all the local shopping events going on this weekend and next.
  • For more live music, check out the calendars for Tractor Tavern, Sunset Tavern, Picolinos, Conor Byrne and Egan’s Ballard Jam House. As always, check out our events calendar. And if you have an event to add, just email us at tips@myballard.com.
