Born in Ballard: Swedish welcomes first baby of 2010

Mary and Dan Ramirez of Crown Hill are the proud parents of Swedish Ballard’s first baby of the year!

Henry Alvin Ramirez was born on January 2nd at 12:21 a.m. weighing in at 8 pounds 3 ounces and measuring more than 20 inches in length. “We would like to extend special thanks to CNM Maggie Bolton and the nurses on hand during the birth. They were incredible as they guided us through the miracle of birth,” new mom Mary said. (CNM is certified nurse midwife.)

For having the first baby at Swedish Ballard, the Ramirez family gets to take home a newborn gift basket from the Swedish Auxiliary, a baby receiving blanket from Swaddle Designs, and a manicure-pedicure set from ButterLondon. Henry also gets a keepsake of his own. He and every baby born at Swedish this year will receive an “I’m a Swedish Baby” onesie. (Photograph by Pam Barber, Swedish. 1. Awesome! You know, this proves Ballard is still a 'sleepy town'. The first baby of the year born at 12:21? Sweedish First Hill would have been 12:00 (and 15 sec).

    Congratulations Mary & Dan.

  2. Congrats Mary & Dan! You have an adorable family. I love the tradition of Swedish Ballard giving a gift to the first born baby of the new year. I have a book on Ballard Hospital, it is pretty neat- the first family to have a baby at Ballard got an extremely swanky basket- including dinner out for mom and dad. Happy 2010! I had my second a Swedish Ballard just last June.

  3. I don't know. But you hit the firewall if you try to come here. Swedish blocks all blogs, too. If I want an employee to look at something from this site, I have to copy and paste it into an email.

  4. LOL pants , I was thinking the same thing!

PS the baby was born Jan 2 at 12:21 – thus it was actually 24 hours after the new year. Ballard is indeed a sleepy town – I love it here!

  5. Yay! A shout out to Maggie Bolton… She was my midwife when I had my second born and my husband and I LOVED her. I highly recommend the Swedish Midwifery services. Way better prenatal care/attention than the OB I used with my firstborn (also in Ballard, but I won't mention the practice). Rivers Cuomo! How funny.
