Top Banana open for the season

Taking advantage of the spring-like weather, Top Banana (6501 15th Ave NW) is open for the season.

Anna emailed us, “Just drove past and saw that the store is open for business … hooray!” We went in this morning to find the produce stacked nicely and employees tidying up the place. They said the warm weather spurred owner Jimmy Wild to open earlier than usual. The produce stand will be open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week until daylight sticks around longer, when they extend their evening hours to 8 p.m. iamguggenheim just tweeted us, “I went on Sat. night. Great selection to start the season.”

  1. Yay! So glad to hear they are back open for the season. I agree that some produce is hit or miss. But it's perfect for a quick stop with easy parking vs dealing with lines at the busy grocery store. And it's supporting local growers! Their dressings and marinades are wonderful too.

  2. I don't think there is too much that is local right now. If the farmers market is bare, I doubt this can be much different (in regards to local).

  3. I have tried many times to figure out the appeal of this establishment. I find they basically carry the exact same thing as any other grocery does at the same price. If you look at the carton around the place you can see they buy from the same brokers.

  4. We are very excited that Top Banana opened early!!! Support them! They are local, convenient, and fresh produce for a great price!
