Vintner’s Annex tasting room opens on 24th

Vintner’s Annex, the new wine tasting room and wine shop is now open at 5818 24th Ave NW.

Darren Des Voigne of Des Voigne Cellars tells us the idea of the five-winery co-op surfaced about a year ago when the group decided it was time for a west side showcase for their wines. The five wineries involved are Alta Cellars, Barrage Cellars, Cuillin Hills Winery, Des Voigne Cellars and Flying Dreams Winery. In the shop they’ll offer bottle sales, individual wine tastes or flights for a fee and possibly glass pours.

“We’ve found that people that live within a mile of Woodinville have a hard time finding us, so coming all the way out from Ballard is not always going to happen,” Des Voigne says. The reason they chose Ballard, “It’s a great market, a great neighborhood,” he tells us, “It’s a nice audience for what we’re doing.”

The hours are still fluid but they’ll be open five days a week, closing on Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday and Thursday the shop will either be open from noon or 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday they’re thinking noon to 8 or 9 p.m. and Sunday noon to 7 p.m.

  1. We, at Domanico Cellars, are very excited to have you in the neighborhood! We look forward to stopping by soon and welcome to Ballard!

  2. Now this is what I am talking about a co-op winery and so conveniently located close to moi… Thank you and I will be their on opening day.

  3. “We’ve found that people that live within a mile of Woodinville have a hard time finding us, so coming all the way out from Ballard is not always going to happen.”

Is it just me, or does this quote make no sense whatsoever? The more I read it, the less sense it makes.

Maybe I need to down some red wine for it to all click.

  4. I think they mean that since even people that live close to them in Woodinville can't find them, they don't expect people that don't know the neighborhood to be able to find them. Therefore having a more accessible location will help.

  5. Hey Neighbors,

Regular hours for Vintner's Annex will be:
    Wed-Thursday 3:00-7:00
    Friday 3:00-8:00
    Saturday 2:00-8:00
    Sunday 2:00-6:00

These hours may adjust slightly for change of the season, but we'll be sure to let you know.

Thanks. We have so enjoyed meeting many of you these past two days and love being in the neighborhood! See you soon.

    Best,

  6. Sorry Drinky, that did come out a tad unclear. Our production facilities are in Woodinville and I was saying that folks who live out there even have a hard time finding us and if Woodinville locals are struggling to find us then the fine folks of Ballard might have an even harder time. Hope that helps!
