Get rid of old prescription drugs

Don’t throw those expired prescription drugs down the drain, get rid of them safely and anonymously.

Saturday, September 25th is National Take-Back Day, which allows the public to get rid of pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications. The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), will be collecting the meds at locations throughout the country from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. “These drugs are a potential source of supply for illegal use and an unacceptable risk to public health and safety,” the website states.

This one-day effort is intended to bring national focus to the issue of increasing pharmaceutical controlled substance abuse.

* The program is anonymous.
* Prescription and over the counter solid dosage medications, i.e. tablets and capsules accepted.
* Intra-venous solutions, injectables, and needles will not be accepted.
* Illicit substances such as marijuana or methamphetamine are not a part of this initiative.

  1. … or, we could just legalize all that stuff and make it available w/o a prescription so the crime related to it goes away. Prohibition didn’t work on alcohol. Throwing away drugs doesn’t fix the problem of people wanting to get them. Making them available does fix the problem.
