Westernco Donuts broken into again

For the third time this year, Westernco Donuts has been broken into.

We spoke with the owner, Soma Srong, who tells us that when she got to work at 4:45 this morning the door was busted open.

“Nothing is missing!” she says. “I don’t know why they keep doing it. I don’t have anything in the store.” Srong says that the lock was busted open and she needs help fixing it. If there is anyone who can help, Srong would appreciate any help. (Thanks Catherine for the tip!)

  1. Bored youth or drug addicts. Considering last time they broke in they stole the little candy and toy machines and left them busted up in someone’s yard. Maybe we should have a neighborhood pool to help her pay to fix the door?

  2. Maybe this time get a sliding metal gate to go down over the door. I know they are not pretty but they work. See all east coast cities for details.

  3. better yet, mich.

I heard the perpetrators that broke in were actually…racoons!

go get your little air pistol and take care of business, ok?

  4. Actually I own multiple options that will do the trick in any situation. And when did 15th Ave in Ballard become so beautiful. I’ll take NYC anyday.

  5. So that’s why Fox News trumps all other networks in their category? It must be because they’re fear mongering. Take a break from NPR, it might do you some good.

  6. I agree with adding sliding metal gates. If we’re going to let bums turn our neighborhoods into slums, then we better start protecting ourselves and our businesses accordingly. If our police force is too busy throwing medical marijuana users to the floor to lock up junkies, then you have to watch out for yourself. Who cares if it’s an ‘eye-sore’? Are you kidding me?

Also, you could try camping in your store with a handgun? Works for John Walker in Greenwood. :)

  7. Works in what way? He has to live in his garage, just to protect a bunch of rich guys’ toy cars from the bad guys. Nice life.

  8. Isn’t it called the “criminal justice system”? Seems the “criminals” actually do have justice. Too much of it in fact. And why oh why does somebody have to throw Fox news under the bus? Against them? Don’t watch. I’m pro-choice. And I want choices to remain in law abiding citizens hands. Not criminals. Face it people, Seattle has become too big for it britches, and our community organizing mayor is in way over his fuzzy head.

  9. There are many sane new channels, there is only one insane, false fact spewing, fear-mongering news channel. Therefore, if you want all that crap, you have no choice but to watch Fox News. Hence why they have good ratings.

  10. Sundays the only day she can take off and be with her kids. Too bad she doesn’t have enough money to hire someone to work Sunday because it’s a great day to get the after-church crowd. She’s open super early in the mornings on weekdays so you could pick up a dozen on your way to work and make your co-workers super happy!

  11. Um. A donut shop was burgled. It’s not the end of civilization as we know it. Crime happens everywhere, even in Red states.

  12. After reading all the comments above I can agree to several topics. I agree that some sort of help needs to go to the shop ie,….go by lots of donuts from her. I would be happy tp help with the repairs but ready it kinda looks like the door needs some help let alone the locks. I will go by and offer my help for Labor. I agree the main drag of 15th neds some serios redevelopment. It could be very worthy of stopping at various shops. There are several that are decent looking storefronts etc… Maybe some decade it will be a whole lot different. Yes the bums are just screwing things up bigtime so sad lots of bums and minimal help for them. We the people need to do something about our Government and its numerous flaws!!!! Yesterday already!!!! And sorry to say
the Police are lacking proper Supervision of the increasingly busy Music, Club
and Bar seen there too,….hello McFly….oh I mean McGinn get of your cloud and do something right!! We can all dream I guess that does’nt hurt anybody!!

  13. Anon,

You must be libtarted, a network doesn’t constantly stay on top by false advertising, fear mongering and “false fact spewing”, come back to reality bro. Stop drinking the koolaid!

  14. It’s not even a blood bank for blood for other people – it’s all for medical testing which is why all the junkies go there. And it’s right next to a liquor store. Great combination.

  15. The only people I’ve met that actually watched and believed Fox News were in Texas. It’s pretty interesting to find one in the great Northwest.

  17. Actually taking care of your customers, running a great business, working hard and being willing to stand behind it all and protect it is a ‘nice life’.

Grow up someday and maybe you’ll learn to show respect for hard working people as opposed to bums and criminals.

  18. I’m not so sure about that. I work at a local hospital and we use blood products from that company in surgeries on real patients.

  19. There was a study that measured people’s knowledge of facts in current events. Not political opinion, but knowledge of the facts like whether the US uncovered mass amounts of WMDs during the invasion of Iraq. In the survey there was a question of what news channels and shows people watched.
By far the most UNinformed and flat out wrong were the viewers of Fox news. The most informed and correct were actually people who listened to NPR and watched the Daily Show.

  20. Are you actually comparing the audience of Fox News to the Daily Show?

Maybe it’s because NPR and the Daily Show have a total audience of 100, and Fox News has an audience of millions. There’s bound to be more idiots in the audience of millions.

  21. Um, I never said I didn’t respect him. I just said that I thought having to live in his garage to protect some rich guys’ Porsches was kind of a crummy way to have to live. If I were him, I’d rather spend the money on a really good security system or rent-a-cop service.

    Jeez.

  22. I love that stretch of 15th…you can donate plasma, get some $$, then go next door and buy liquor, then go right to the sex shop next to the liquor store! That is capitalism in action right there.
