Hours added back to Ballard Community Center

(11/12 update):  The City Council voted to approve the additional hours.

Original report:  A plan to drastically cut drop-in hours at the Ballard Community Center (6020 28th Ave NW) may not happen after all.  During budget discussions this morning, the Seattle City Council heard a proposal from its central staff to add back 15 hours of drop-in service at the facility.  Councilmembers must still approve that proposal when they vote on the full budget later this month.

Mayor McGinn’s budget called for drop-in hours at the Ballard Community Center to be reduced from 53 hours per week during the school year and 46 hours per week in the summer to 15 to 20 hours per week year round.
