Stoneway Hardware opens new location in Ballard

Stoneway Hardware, which has been a fixture in Wallingford since 1986 is now open in Ballard at 4910 15th Ave NW.

We spoke with Randy, one of the owners, who says they’ve been looking to open in Ballard for a couple of years to replace Ernst Hardware, which went bankrupt in the late ’90s. Randy tells us they’re targeting everyone from homeowners to commercial customers. The new location opened on Tuesday morning.

  1. Ya me we don’t have to incessantly drive to a giant box store every time we need something now? As in competition! If one stops and thinks about it there are actually many businesses that are NOT close to Ballard. Got coffee?

  2. Oh, can’t wait to check it out. Home Depot is such a schlepp, and we have missed the Ernst vibe for so long… Welcome StoneWay! Now will you please bring back Archie McPhee’s?

  3. No need to leave Ballard now – I was at Stoneway Hardware in Ballard today and they have EVERYTHING – paint, fastners of all kinds, electric, plumbing, gardening. And now I don’t have to wait for a moron at Fred Meyer to cut my keys – Yipeee

  4. Yeaaaaaaaa! What a wonderful (and needed) addition to Ballard!! And it’s great for Fremont, Magnolia and lower Queen Anne! Can’t wait to go there.

  5. I’ve been a regular up at Greenwood True Value for the last few years, and think that place is great …. how does StoneWay compare? Prices and knowledge?

  6. I love Greenwood True Value and it’s a great general purpose store. Stone is better when you need small items like fasteners, hinges, small pieces of sheet metal, drill bits, dies, etc. The two complement each other nicely.

  7. Yeah, and these guys know their stuff! Randy used to manage the Ballard Ernst. This is a GREAT addition to Ballard so lets all make sure we shop there so we can keep them here!!!
