Ballard High School now has own lacrosse team

For the first time, Ballard High School now has its own boys lacrosse team. Forty-two players came out for the first practice on Monday, enough for a full varsity and JV squad. Before this year, BHS and Roosevelt High School combined to make a team but because of the interest in the sport, the Ballard Boys’ Lacrosse Club was formed, Bob McCormick writes in a press release.

“It’s great that we are able to start off with full varsity and JV squads in our first season” said Dave Kirkendall, Club President and Team Manager. Kirkendall says that although this is the first year for the Ballard Boy’s Lacrosse Club, the core of the squad played on a team that went as far as the state quarter-finals last season. “We’ll be fun to watch this year,” he added.

The season officially kicks off on March 12th with a full-day tournament at Nathan Hale High School. The home-opener is March 15th at 5:30 p.m. against Franklin High School at the BHS field.
