Ballard Farmers Market could be top in the nation

It’s time once again to vote for your favorite farmers market in the country. Last year, Ballard’s was chosen as the best in the state, but didn’t make the national ranking.

American Farmland Trust sponsors the annual America’s Favorite Farmers Market contest, which is designed “to raise national awareness about the importance of buying fresh food from local farms and saving the farmland where it’s grown,” the website states.

You can vote here by typing in “Ballard Farmers Market” in the available space. They will ask you for your email but can opt out of receiving emails from them. Once you vote you will be taken to a donation page. A donation is not required to vote.

Voting started last week and runs through midnight on August 31st. Along with bragging rights, the winning market will get some No Farms No Food® totebags, a feature article on Epicurious.com, and other prizes.

  1. …so it can be even more crowded?

They need to narrow the market (one row of vendors) and extend it down the street. Between the dogs, strollers and buskers, there’s hardly any room to move!
