A 17-year-old suffered multiple stab wounds to the stomach after an altercation in Golden Gardens Park, in the field area just north of the bathhouse. Officers swarmed the park just after 9 p.m., shutting down the entrance. The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries, police say. The suspect was quickly captured nearby.
“The suspect complained of some sort of illness or injury,” explained Seattle Police Detective Renee Witt. “He was transported to HMC (Harborview) for treatment. Upon release he will be booked for Investigation of Assault.” Witt said she didn’t know what sparked the incident.
While officers closed the entrance of the park, festivities continued inside. A short time later, officers recovered a knife at the scene. At 10 p.m., police reopened the park entrance, and we saw several patrol cars keeping an eye on the crowds. (Thanks Silver for the tip!)
