On August 14th, the Nordic Heritage Museum will hold a memorial concert for Norway called “Alt for Norge.”
Local Scandinavian American sopranos, Laura Loge and Signe Mortensen and Norwegian pianist Knut Erik Jensen are organizing the event. “News of the tragic attacks on peace loving Norwegians has stunned the American people and we have joined together to present a memorial concert for the victims and help begin the healing for those affected and living far from home,” said Loge.
From the Nordic Heritage Museum:
The concert will include Scandinavian musical treasures from Norway and Denmark to honor the multicultural influence of the musicians involved. Sharing their talents will be Norwegian pianist, Knut Erik Jensen, sopranos Laura Loge and Signe Mortensen, and cellist Erika Pierson. Laura Loge, who is of Norwegian heritage, regularly performs Scandinavian music and currently lives in Bellevue. Signe Mortensen, a Seattle native who currently lives in New York City, is of Danish and Swedish heritage. Knut Erik Jensen, who recently performed with Loge at the Mostly Nordic Chamber Music Concert series at the Museum to great critical acclaim, has performed throughout the US, Canada, and Europe. Erika Pierson, the principal cellist of the Pacifica Chamber Orchestra and a regular performer with the Bella Sala String Quartet, claims Swedish heritage.
The free concert starts at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 14th at the museum (3014 NW 67th St). Donations will be accepted to support the Norwegian Red Cross.
