New playground at Golden Gardens is now open

Kids now have a new place to play at Golden Gardens Park. Earlier today Seattle Parks and Recreation took down the fencing at the play area.

From Seattle Parks and Rec:

The new play area features a large pirate ship climbing structure, swings, and climbing nets strung from a high dome called the “Explorer Dome.” The surrounding landscape features dune grass, large rocks and new pathways that blend with the beach atmosphere.

The new play area is funded by the 2008 Parks and Green Spaces Levy. Now that the new area is open, the old one will be taken out.

There will be an opening ceremony for the new play equipment with pirates and family fun at 5 p.m. on August 29th.
