Ballard HS football forfeits game, goes 1-2

Despite winning two out of three games so far this season, the Ballard Beaver football team is 1-2. They had to forfeit their 34-27 win over Sammamish because they used an ineligible player. Coach Joey Thomas says it was a paperwork issue, according to our news partners The Seattle Times.

Last week the Beavers fell to Issaquah for their first scoreboard loss of the season, a loss that Thomas says is a positive. “Sometimes it takes playing against a good team to expose you, and they exposed us,” Thomas tells the Times. “I’m very thrilled about it. I’m very excited about it, because now we get to go back to the drawing board as coaches and players.”

Tonight the Beavers take on the 2-1 Inglemoor Vikings for the first division game of the season. Kickoff is at 5 p.m. at Memorial Stadium.
