A look at the ‘de-watered’ Ballard Locks

Each year the Ballard Locks are “de-watered,” the technical term for draining all the water, so crews can get in and give it a good cleaning.

Ballardite and photographer Keith Bubach went down into the empty Locks and put together this piece.

The large lock will reopen on November 22nd. The small lock will remain open for boats.
