The plan for Kirke Park

As we wrote last week, construction on the 9th Avenue pocket park starts today. Kelly Goold, the project manager with the City of Seattle, sent construction information to the Friends of Kirke Park.

Construction hours are allowed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. with high impact construction restricted to 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The contractor on Kirke Park plans to work Monday through Thursday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. “This is a little unusual but allowed under the contract and by City Code,” Goold writes.

Here is the construction schedule:

  • Demolition, clearing and grubbing; 1 Feb – Feb 9
  • Excavation North End; Feb 10 – Feb 14
  • Form and pour North End concrete work; Feb 12 – Feb 28
  • Underground Utility installation; Feb 24 – March 21
  • Excavate Play Area/South End; Feb 28 – March 13

  • Excavate Center Area – April 16 – April 19

  • Landscaping; May 1 – May 22
  • Punch-list and Clean-up; May 22 – June 4

  • “This is a rough schedule to give a understanding of work that will be occurring in your neighborhood,” writes Goold. “The schedule could change depending on weather conditions and unforeseen conditions.”
