Ballard students take the Global Reading Challenge

Fourth and fifth graders from three Ballard elementary schools are taking part in the 2012 Global Reading Challenge – a “Battle of the Books” quiz bowl hosted by Seattle Public Library.

The students at Adams, Whittier and Loyal Heights split into teams and read ten books (book titles here). During the challenge the kids are quizzed on each of the books and scored on their answers. The winning team from each school will head to the city-wide semi-finals that start next month.

Last year, the “Just Read It” team from Adams Elementary made it to the city finals. (Disclosure: I am a member of Ballard Rotary, a sponsor of the Global Reading Challenge.)
