The bar that pays homage to the land(s) down under is opening this weekend in Ballard. The Kangaroo and Kiwi moved from its location on Aurora Ave to the historic Carnegie Library at 2026 NW Market St.
Pub owner Brad Howe says the bar will ready to serve drinks this weekend, but the kitchen isn’t ready to serve food. For the first weekend however, he said they’ll be collecting menus from nearby restaurants and will allow food from elsewhere until they have the kitchen ready to go.
The new pub will have a large outdoor seating area which wraps around the side of the building. They hope to hang a screen on the brick wall pictured above for projecting sports games, movies, and more at night.
Howe said the weekend will kick off with the first installment of Euro 2012 games, the soccer tournament that draws huge crowds all summer. He expects to have a grand opening party sometime in the near future.
