Ballard’s newest place to satisfy your sweet cravings is opening on Saturday. It’s called Sweet Mickey’s (2230 NW 57th St), and will sell everything from jelly beans to specialty chocolate and ice cream.
The owner, Randy Brinker, says the shop is named after his grandmother Mickey, who raised him. He spent much of his childhood in her party supply shop, and cherishes memories of her shop being a meeting place for many friends and neighbors.

Sweet Mickey’s will be open at 11 a.m. Saturday morning, and their regular hours will be 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday, and open until 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
