‘Fill-the-Boot’ campaign starts tomorrow

Tomorrow and Wednesday, you’ll be seeing teams of local firemen across the city with boots in hand, as they kick off their annual Fill-the-Boot fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). In Ballard, they’ll be posted at 15th Ave NW and NW Market St from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

This is the 58th year of the campaign, and last year, the International Association of Fire Fighters raised nearly 28 million for MDA. The Seattle Fire Department raised $120,000, ranking them in the top 50 of all fire departments nationally, according to Kyle Moore with the Fire Department. Our Ballard location is one of 30 across the city where fire fighters will posted.

According to Moore, the proceeds will help support MDA’s local services and research programs, including a week-long summer camp for kids, support groups, and local clinics.
