Saturday, September 15, is the 6th annual Festival of Fruit at Carkeek Park, organized by Piper’s Orchard. The festival will be at the Environmental Learning Center (950 NW Carkeek Park Road) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Activities include the following:
- Pressed cider demonstrations and samples
- Pie contest (pie entries due by 10 a.m.)
- Lectures from Tim Smith, an expert on modern horticulture for organic tree management (at 10:30) and Kathy Mendelson, an expert on historic orchards in the Puget SOund and apple variety history
- Live music at the Environmental Learning Center and performances in the orchard all afternoon
- Crafts for kids
