BHS swimming and cross country

By Bucky Beaver

Senior Mia Wrey never ran cross country before this season.  She was a three year soccer player at Ballard High School.  She thought she’d give cross country a try this year and try she did!  She progressed throughout the season knocking nearly 2 minutes off some of her earlier times by the end of the season.  Mia qualified for state last weekend and competed today in Pasco at the state competition.  Mia ran a person best time of 19:12.8 and placed 30thin state as the lone Ballard runner!  Here’s a listing of all racers: http://www.jcrawford.net/girls4a12.html Congratulations Mia!

Ballard sent eight girls to the SEA-King District 2 champions this weekend at the University of Washington pool: Luisa Chan, Tiara Adler, Catherine Canetti, Madeline Manalo, Joy Jaeger, Claire Comiskey, Katie Harrylock, and Tianna Lee.   It’s tough to make it to state—you either have to have a top three time  at the district meet or swim a state qualifying time.  The girls competed well with many setting personal best.  Junior Luisa Chan swam the 100 breast with a state qualifying time of 1:09.93.  She gets a trip to state next weekend!

Go Beavers!
