The project to repair the 75-year-old sewer pipes that run under Ballard is continuing at the north site on Shilshole Ave NW at 20th Ave NW. The north project site is being used to build a regulator structure, which will connect the existing sewer pipes to the new siphon pipeline, work which will continue through early 2013.

The King County Wastewater Treatment Division says community members can expect increased truck traffic around the project area, and urges drivers and bicyclists to use caution around the site. The sidewalk on the block between NW Dock St. and NW 20th St. on Shilshole Ave NW will be closed, and there is a pedestrian detour in place to direct people up and around the block to Ballard Ave.
At the south project site on West Commodore Way, crews continue to work as tunneling continues. To learn more about the Ballard Siphon Replacement Project, click here.
