7:15 Update – Alaskan Way Viaduct Replacement Program, Ron Paananen, WSDOT -Program Administrator
On October 29, WSDOT released an enormous amount of information and analysis on the project in a document identified as the “Supplemental Draft Environmental Impact Statement”. Ron will attempt to boil this information down and discuss its direct relevance to those of us in Ballard who rely on this corridor.
7:45 Updating Seattle’s Transit Master Plan, Tony Mazzella, Seattle DOT
The range of transit options and transit agencies in Seattle continues to expand. The list of players, financing, and policies grow more complex. Seattle’s Transit Master Plan was established in 2005. Much has changed since that time including rapid growth in some neighborhoods, the addition of the Seattle street car network, as well as changing priorities from all transit agencies serving our city. Seattle DOT has launched the planning effort which will chart the course for where Seattleites wish to put their transit nickel and patronage.
8:05 Transit Service Changes Coming to Ballard, Doug Johnson & Paul Roybal, KC Department of Transportation
Several Ballard transit routes will be realigned to accommodate construction related to replacement of the Alaska Way Viaduct. Metro Transit has fine-tuned plans to implement the Ballard to Downtown Rapid Ride service which will operate along the 15th Avenue corridor.

Don represents a unique neighborhood in Ballard. His neighbors are hundreds of households whose homes are tied to Ballard docks; and have the unique ability to slip those mooring lines. Don will describe the lifestyle and challenges faced by those who reside on Ballard waters.
