Toss Like a Boss comp hits Ballard Pizza Co on Sunday


We have just been informed that movie night this week has been rescheduled for Thursday. A kids movie will be shown at 5 p.m. and an adults movie at 7 p.m. Movie nights will resume on Wednesday nights starting next week.

]Ballard Pizza Company’s inaugural Toss Like a Boss competition will kick off this Sunday, March 10 at the Ballard Ave restaurant (5107 Ballard Avenue NW). Resident pizza expert Israel Santiago, will challenge 11 pizza pros to see if he will be crowned winner in the 2013 competition.

The three-hour event will start at noon, and for a suggested donation of $20, guests will receive a scorecard and free pizza and salad.

Pizza tossing experts from Big Mario’s Pizza, Piecora’s Original New York Pizza and Pasta, Zayda Buddy’s Pizza & Bar, Elemental Pizza, Tavolàta, The Hi-Life, Rione XIII, and Ballard Pizza Company will be in the running for the 2013 crown.

The competition will comprise of four rounds, each with three participants, with the winner of each round advancing to the final round and tossing for the title. Entrants will be judged in the areas of speed, style, height of their toss, and best looking pie. The winner will receive a trophy to display in their restaurant for 2013 and event proceeds will go to a charity of the winners choice.

“We got this great idea that there must be some amazing talent in the pizza kitchens of our city, and wouldn’t it be fun to bring them all together, have a lot of fun and raise some money for a good cause,” said Ballard Pizza Company’s Marty Penner.

In other news from the Ballard Ave restaurant, they will be kicking off movie night Wednesdays tonight. They will play a kids movie starting at 5pm and a movie for adults at 7pm. Patrons can check in every week on their Facebook page to find out what’s playing, and to vote on the next week’s option.
