Slate Coffee (5413 6th Ave NW) opened its doors for business today in the former Sun Cafe location.
Slate Coffee is a family-owned coffee company which previously sold coffee from an Airstream trailer perched on Capitol Hill at 14th and Madison in the parking lot of Piecora’s Pizza.
Slate is serious about their coffee: “…coffee is special – chemically, it is the most complex item humans consume. Tasting coffee like these represented a paradigm shift in our idea of what coffee could be and it is Slate’s goal to share these coffees with you,” they write on their Facebook page. “Slate grew out of the idea that coffee can bring people together and in that spirit, we invite you to join us.”
