Stand-up paddleboard racing to start in Ballard

Stand-up paddleboarding, or SUPing, is spreading like wildfire in this part of the world, and a local SUP club is starting Monday night races taking off in Ballard. Rob Casey from Salmon Bay Paddle tells us the weekly Monday night races will begin at 7 p.m. and will take off from the Ballard Elks Beach. The course is about 1.5 to 3 miles long, and will include a post-race gathering at the Ballard Elks Club.

The race costs $5 per person, and Casey tells us participants should be comfortable paddling on flat water. He recommends arriving early to get ready and register. Salmon Bay Paddles offers SUP rentals; click here for more info. To sign up, click here for the registration page.
