The second annual Great Glasses Play Day is set for this Sunday, August 4 at Carkeek Park (950 NW Carkeek Park Rd) from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. The event is being held in a number of cities across America and in South Africa to raise awareness about the importance of early comprehensive eye exams and to celebrate children who wear glasses.
Amber Johnson was inspired to create the event by her own daughter’s journey with glasses. Johnson’s daughter got her first pair of glasses at age 18 months for farsightedness, strabismus, and amblyopia, among others. “She now does vision therapy and other work to help fill the gaps in development caused by vision impairment. Inspired by her journey, I’m hosting a Great Glasses Play Day for the Seattle area,” says Johnson.
Great Glasses Play Day will be held by the playground and the play field. All are welcome to attend!
