What’s on this weekend

It is hard to believe that November is already here. Welcome it in by attending some of the fantastic events that are on in and around Ballard this weekend.

Friday, November 1:

  • The 4th Annual Writer Next Door Event at Sunset Hill Community Club (3003 NW 66th St) from 6 p.m. Author readings. “Ask the Writer” Panel. $15 three-book sampler. Raffle baskets. Additional book sales by Secret Garden Books plus Rising Bird Art Store benefit sale. Thirty participating writers, twelve readers and panel featuring Theo Pauline Nestor, Jennifer D.   • Dia de los Muertos Event at The Matador (2221 NW Market St) from 5 p.m. The event includes traditional Dia de los Muertos inspired food and drink and also a silent auction from featuring bull skulls painted by the talented folks at Anchor Tattoo.   • Ghostlight Theatricals presents “Rope” at the Ballard Underground (2220 NW Market St) from 7:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. Two Gatsby-era ivy-leaguers decide to murder a friend of theirs, just to prove they can get away with it. Tickets are $12 for students, seniors and TPS and $15 for general admission. Click here to buy tickets.
  • Ghostlight Theatricals 11th Season Kick Off Party at the Ballard Underground (2220 NW Market St) from 10 p.m. Join them after the opening of “Rope” at Ballard’s only live theatrical venue -The Ballard Underground for a celebratory party! Enjoy drinks, dancing, food, and laughter, as we kick off our eleventh season. Free event.

Saturday, November 2:

  • Real Food Buying Club Open House Marketplace Event at 4818 14th Ave NW from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. There will be samples from local food artisans, extra bulk food items for sale, and an opportunity to learn more about how Real Food Buying Club members can save time and money by shopping for local, natural, and organic foods with us.   • Free Acupuncture for new patients at Purple Dragon Healing Arts (7324 15th Ave NW)from 1:30 p.m. – 5 p.m. Click here to make an appointment.
  • Seasonal Cooking Class at Culinary Essentials (5320 Ballard Ave) from 3 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. With Chef Instructor Danielle Premo of Mirinette. Learn to creatively transform seasonal fruits and vegetables into hearty and warming dishes for satisfying suppers and holiday menus. Sunday, November 3:

  • Ballard Farmers Markets along Ballard Ave from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Click here to see this week’s specials.
  • Spaghetti Dinner and Bingo at Leif Erikson Lodge (2245 NW 57th St) from 3 p.m. – 8 p.m. $5 spaghetti dinner for adults and $3 dinner for children under 12. Bingo game cards at additional cost. Blackout jackpot $500.
  • Wax On Event at Anchors Down Bar (2016 NW Market St) from 4 p.m. Every Sunday at Anchors Down, bring in your vinyl records to listen to and share with fellow music junkies. All vinyl, all day, and an all day happy hour. We’ll take turns playing our favorite cuts and talk about music through the years. All music welcome!
  • Ballard Elks Lodge Ballroom Dancing (6411 Seaview Ave NW) from 7 p.m. – 10 pm. Live music will be provided by The Eddy Fukano Band. Singles and couples are welcome and cost is $7 per person.  Click here for more details.
