My Ballard reader Sara emailed in to let us know that three Ballard eateries made the America wide Yelp Top 100 Places to Eat list. The list includes the best places to eat across the country according to numbers of votes and stars on Yelp.
The Ballard hot spots that made the list were:
- Paseo (6226 Seaview Ave NW), which was ranked 2nd overall in the whole of the USA!
- Café Besalu, (5909 24th Ave NW), which was 33rd on the list.
- Mr Gyros (5522 20th Ave NW), which came in 47th.
How did they compile the list you may ask? Yelp writer Hannah revealed their method;
“We dug in to our wealth of rich data to see what the numbers told us about which places Yelpers really love. Engineers on Yelp’s data mining team used a technique based on the Wilson Score to compile a list of highly rated places to eat. This method takes into account both star rating and number of reviews to reveal which spots not only have top notch ratings, but also which are most popular in the Yelp community,” writes Hannah on the Yelp Blog.
It is the first time ever that Yelp has released a Top 100 list! It is definitely a huge deal to make the cut and the fact that three out of the four Seattle eateries included have locations in Ballard makes it even better!
So, as Hannah writes, “add these babies to your Yelp bookmarks STAT and worry about that unused gym membership later.”
