What’s on this weekend

The first weekend of March is here. Welcome in  the new month by getting out and about in Ballard at these awesome events!

Friday, February 28:

  • Comedy Sportz Seattle Show at new venue Atlas Theatre (3509 Fremont Ave N) at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Click here for more details and to buy tickets.

Saturday, March 1:

  • Weeds: Know Them, Don’t Grow Them class at Swanson’s Nursery (9710 15th Ave NW) from 10 a.m. Swansons’ weed expert, Justin Brooks, will teach participants how to identify the area’s most common weeds. Participants are invited to bring in weed samples from their gardens for identification. Cost is free.
  • The Purple House plays Ridge Romp at Phinney Neighborhood Center (6615 Dayton Ave N) at 10:30 a.m. Stay in your Saturday morning jammies and bring the whole family for a tour through several decades of great music, from The Beatles to MGMT and a bunch in between! The Purple House is a community band featuring parents, kids, community members  and you! Tickets available here or at the door.
  • Free Acupuncture for new patients at Purple Dragon Healing Arts (7324 15th Ave NW)from 1:30 p.m. – 5 p.m. Click here to make an appointment.

Sunday, March 2:

  • Loyal Heights Pancake Breakfast at Loyal Heights Community Center (2101 NW 77th St) from 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. All proceeds go to the center’s scholarship fund benefiting families in need by providing opportunities to participate in activities throughout the year. Tickets are available for purchase now at the center, or you can pay admission at the door the day of the event.
  • Ballard Farmers Markets along Ballard Ave from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Click here to see this week’s specials.
  • Terrarium Workshop at Swanson’s Nursery (9710 15th Ave NW) at 11 a.m. Join Swansons Designer, Charlo Wang, for a fun, creative experience in creating your very own glass enclosed garden. A selection of containers and plants will be available for purchase. Cost is $20 which includes soil, sand, charcoal, gravel and moss. Call (206) 782-2543 to register.
