What’s on this weekend

The weekend has arrived and brings with it some exciting events. Check them out in the list below:

Friday, April 11:

  • Comedy Sportz Seattle Show at new venue Atlas Theatre (3509 Fremont Ave N) at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Click here for more details and to buy tickets.

Saturday, April 12:

  • Mediterranean Herbs: Planting and Maintenance at Swanson’s Nursery (9710 15th Ave NW) from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Warm weather herb gardens thrive in the wet NW with a little special care. In this seminar you’ll learn about soil preparation, watering and care, harvesting and winterizing your herbs. Cost is free.
  • Golden Gardens Off Leash Area Work Party (8498 Seaview Pl NW) from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.  The team will be working on erosion control and filling holes. Coffee and water will be provided. Donations will also be taken to help with the new lighting to be installed this winter. All are welcome.
  • Norwegian Ladies Chorus of Seattle Spring Concert & Dessert Reception at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church
    (13047 Greenwood Ave N) at 3 p.m. Suggested $10 donation at door.
  • Mindfulness Meditation Workshop at Kula Movement, Center for Yoga & Health (5340 Ballard Ave NW) from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. Participants will be led through five different types of meditation and be given the tools and knowledge to create a successful daily meditation practice! Cost is $40 to pre-register, $45 day of workshop. Click here for more details.
  • Ballard Art Walk is on at many businesses and art galleries all over Ballard from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Click here to check out more details.
  • The Nature Spirits Series at Kick It Boots & Stompwear (2607 NW Market St) from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. The artist Marlita explores the spirit of connecting to nature, and the elements through folklore, fantasy and spirit using a mixture of different medias and imagery.Click here for more details.
  • ReStore’s Recycled Arts Show at Blowing Sands Glass (5805 14th Ave NW) from 6 p.m. The pieces range from the whimsical to the sophisticated, intricate to bold, folk art to modern craft to domestic handicraft. It is an entertaining collection all based on the concept that inspiration is where you find it.

Sunday, April 13:

  • Ballard Farmers Markets along Ballard Ave from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Click here to see this week’s specials.
  • Woodland Park Zoo Tree Walk (601 N 59th St) at 10:30 am. Woodland Park Zoo is throwing a Party for the Planet! Join them for a celebratory Tree Walk. Meet at the West Plaza. Walk is free, but admission to the zoo is required. For more information contact treeambassador@seattle.gov or call (206) 615-1668.
  • Dyeing Eggs Naturally Workshop at Swanson’s Nursery (9710 15th Ave NW) at 11 a.m. Bring your own eggs (cooked, blown or fresh) and learn how to create lovely leaf “prints” on your eggs using dyes made from natural materials. This workshop is for adults and/or parents with children ages 9 and up. Call (206) 782-2543 to register.
  • Art Show for Jessica Weathersby at Sweet Lily Salon and Spa (3000 NW Market St) from 5 p.m. Music by Pablo Trucker will be featured and local beer and wine will be served.
  • “Home Sweet Ballard” Brewmasters Dinner at Ray’s Cafe (6049 Seaview Ave NW) at 6 p.m. The dinner will feature five talented breweries from our own Ballard neighborhood. Cost is $45. Click here for more details.
