It’s shaping up to be another busy weekend in Ballard. Here’s a look at what the neighborhood has to offer this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Friday, July 18

  • Go Granny D! at the Ballard Underground (2220 NW Market St) at 7 p.m. Off-Broadway actress Barbara Bates Smith and musician Jeff Sebens highlight the story of Doris ‘Granny D’ Haddock, who campaigned for finance reform at the age of 90. Tickets from $10. Click here for more details.
  • Black Tie Productions presents Emerald City at the Ballard High School Performing Arts Center (1418 NW 65th St) at 7 p.m. A musical comedy featuring the trials of a newly-minted college graduate from North Dakota is invited by Microsoft to work in Seattle. Tickets are $20 for adults, and $10 for students.
  • Young Shakespeare Workshop presents A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Ballard Odd Fellows Hall (1706 NW Market St) at 7 p.m. Click here for more details.
  • LanceLife at the Ballard Underground (2220 NW Market St) at 8:30 p.m. An evening of comedic takes on self-help seminars. Tickets from $10. Click here for more details.

Saturday, July 19

  • Beekeeping 301: Winterizing Your Hive Seminar at Swansons Nursery (9710 15th Ave NW) from 10 a.m. to noon. Corky Luster of the Ballard Bee Company discusses late summer and fall hive management and explains what to do to prepare hives for the winter. Class size is limited, and a fee of $35 holds your spot.
