What’s on this weekend

A pair of business grand openings, a book launch for a local author, a neighborhood barbecue, and plenty of live music opportunities are among what Ballard has to offer this weekend. Take a look at the full breakdown of events below.

Friday, August 8

  • Kay Kay’s Alphabet Safari Book Launch Party at Secret Garden Books (2214 NW Market St) starting at 7 p.m. Local author and illustrator Dana Sullivan releases his newest picture book, with a portion of the evening’s proceeds going to the Star of Hope Centre — a school and orphanage in Bungoma, Kenya.   • Massy Ferguson EP Release Party at Conor Byrne Pub (5140 Ballard Ave NW) at 9 p.m. Featuring Massy Ferguson, Legendary Oaks, and Hook & Anchor. Tickets are $10. For more information, click here.
  • Live Music at Tractor Tavern (5213 Ballard Ave NW) at 9:30 p.m. Featuring Whitey Morgan and the 78sThe Swearengens, and Rats In The Grass. Tickets are $10. 21 and over. For more information, click here.

Saturday, August 9

  • Grand Opening Celebration at Jibe Espresso Bar (7001 Seaview Ave NW Ste 170) from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Meet the coffee shop’s executive chef, and sample their breakfast and lunch sandwich offerings. Those who sign up for the espresso bar’s loyalty card program will also receive special grand opening perks.   • Grand Opening at Ballard Reuse (1440 NW 52nd St) from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Now open in the former RE Store space, the new store will celebrate with games made from salvaged materials, a tile painting workshop from 10 a.m. to noon from Seattle ReCreative, and more.
  • Second Anniversary Party at Reuben’s Brews (1406 NW 53rd Street) starting at noon. The brewery celebrates its birthday with the release of its new Full Monty IPA, and the first 100 people on hand will receive a free commemorative 16 oz glass with their first pint or barrel aged brew (Maximum one glass per person.).   • Is Beekeeping for You?
