Trupanion pet insurance company, who have headquarters located here in Ballard, is encouraging locals to donate unopened cat or dog food to help local pets in need this holiday season.

The Trupanion team will be loading up two trucks with 3.9 tons of dog and cat food to be donated to the Seattle Humane Society tomorrow. The pet food has been collected as part of the company’s annual holiday pet food drive.

Locals are encouraged to bring their own pet food donations to put on the trucks at 11 a.m. tomorrow out the front of their offices at 907 NW Ballard Way.

In addition to feeding animals in the shelter, the food donation can supplement Seattle Humane Society’s Pet Food Bank, helping to support low-income community members and help keep their pets in their homes. The program feeds more than 1,900 pets every month in local senior centers, low-income housing complexes, food banks, and homes.

“If you are looking to give back to those in need in the animal community this holiday season, consider donating to your local shelter, every can or bag of pet food helps! Or give a cat or dog their forever home,” says Britta Gidican from Trupanion.

Cats and dogs adopted from Seattle Humane Society also come spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and with 30-days of no cost coverage from Trupanion.
