BHS filmmakers take home five awards at Emmy Awards

The Ballard High School filmmaking program has won five awards at the regional high school Emmy Awards.

BHS tells us that Coleman Andersen & Leo Pfeifer won the awards for Short Form Fiction and Writing for their film about the price of revenge, Stolen. Anderson, Pfeifer and Duncan Gowdy won awards for both Long Form Non-Fiction and Photographer/Editor for their documentary about Clipped Wings. BHS says that this is the fourth year in a row that the award for Photographer/Editor has gone to Ballard film students. Clipped Wings explores the impact of the ban on gays in the Boy Scouts of America. Pfeifer and Raven Two Feathers also won the Short Form Non-Fiction award for GeoForce: A Journey to Understanding, which is a promotional documentary examines the strategies and success of a University of Alaska field geology program for rural youth.The Emmy Awards are hosted by the Northwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS), and features productions from Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana and Alaska. BHS students were the big winners at the awards this year, taking home awards in five of the six categories in which they had nominations.
