Ballard bars not streaming the GOP debate tonight

Ten Republican candidates– including Donald Trump, Jeb Bush and Scott Walker– vie tonight at 6 p.m. in the first Republican presidential debate of the 2016 campaign. In addition to providing entertainment, the 2-hour event at Cleveland’s Quicken Loans Arena is likely to redefine the Republican field, the largest we’ve seen in modern times.

While some may be tuning in in the privacy of their homes, others have inquired about where to watch the debate in a local, social setting. Unfortunately, options in Ballard are not looking promising; no bars with TVs have said they plan to stream the Fox News event.

However, our Fremont neighbors at Outlander Brewery and Pub (225 N 36th St.) plan to stream the event from their TV behind the bar.

The Stranger also informs us that Seattle bars a bit further away from us are choosing to dial into the Fox News debate:

Downtown, the Gordon Biersch  (600 Pine St.) puts on the “sure-to-be entertaining debate” from 5–9 p.m. Pioneer Square’s Sake Nomi (76 S Washington St.) says they are willing to mix premium sake and politics for this groundbreaking event.

Capitol Hill’s Moe Bar (925 E Pike St.) says they will be hosting drinking bingo at their viewing party tonight. Also showing the debate on Capitol Hill: Summit Public House (601 Summit Ave E #102) and Saint John’s Bar & Eatery.

South Lake Union’s Art Marble 21 (731 Westlake Ave N) will also be tuned into Fox News in their lake-view area.

We encourage readers to use the comment section to inform neighbors about a streaming we may have missed. We will also provide an update if we hear of any changes.
