What’s on this Labor Day weekend

It’s a long holiday weekend ahead, with plenty of family friendly events such as the second-to-last weekend of free concerts at the Locks, and a car show on Monday at the Ballard Elks. It’s also Bumbershoot weekend, which means thousands will be flocking to the Seattle Center for the annual arts and music festival.

As a reminder, Seattle Metro buses will operate on a Sunday schedule on Labor Day Monday.

Here’s what’s on in Ballard:

FRIDAY, September 4

  • Live Music
    • “Stompgrass” and Americana jams at Conor Byrne Pub (5140 Ballard Ave NW) at 9 p.m. Featuring Dodgy Mountain Men and Tekla Waterfield. Tickets $8.
    • Blues/Country/Folk at Tractor Tavern (5213 Ballard Ave NW) at 9 p.m. Featuring Bluesrock Jackrabbit Starts w/ Sunderheed, The Blue Tracks, Big Splash Champion. Tickets $8.
    • Alternative rock at Sunset Tavern (5433 Ballard Ave NW) at 9 p.m. Featuring Bod, Aan, Versing, and Pleasures. Tickets $8.
    • Jazz at Egan’s Ballard Jam House (1707 NW Market St).
      Featuring Vocalists Carrie Wicks and Aria Prame, with Nick Allison on piano at 7 p.m. Hot Minute at 9 p.m. Tickets $10.

SATURDAY, September 5

  • Free yoga in the park: Every Saturday starting July 25th a free yoga class will be held in Ballard Commons Park with instructors from the Ballard Health Club. 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Saturdays through September. Bring a yoga mat! All levels of experience welcome.
  • Live Music
    • Summer Concerts at the Ballard Locks Botanical Gardens: 2 p.m. Featuring Seattle’s Totally Relaxed Ukele Group.
    • Indie Rock at Conor Byrne Pub (5140 Ballard Ave NW) at 9 p.m. Featuring The Hard Pans (feat. Jimmy Smith of The Gourds), Country Dave, and TBD. Tickets $10.
    • REBIRTH Brass Band at Tractor Tavern (5213 Ballard Ave NW) at 9 and 10:30 p.m. Tickets $25-40.
    • Motown and alt-rock at  Sunset Tavern (5433 Ballard Ave NW) at 9 p.m. Featuring Graig Markel and the 88th St. Band, Surrealized , The Western Red Penguins. Tickets $8.
    • Jazz at Egan’s Ballard Jam House (1707 NW Market St).
      Featuring Dorothy Rodes at 7 p.m. Scenes, with John Bishop (drums) at 9 p.m. Tickets $10.

SUNDAY, September 6:

LABOR DAY MONDAY, September 7:

  • Ballard Elks Annual Car Show: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Family-friendly event with a beer garden, burgers and hot dogs. Entry $20.
  • Free burgers at Li’l Woody’s (2-5 pm)
