Schools locked down after report of man with gun

Seattle Police responded to Salmon Bay School this morning after a witness reported seeing a man who “dropped a gun, picked it up and cut through Salmon Bay School grounds, walking westbound.”

Out of an abundance of caution, Seattle Schools locked down Salmon Bay Elementary and Ballard High School, while Adams Elementary was asked to shelter in place.

Seattle Police later determined that there was no threat, and the lockdown was lifted.

Officers described the man as “20 years old, 5’7, thin, has long blonde hair, wearing a green North Face jacket and blue jeans.”

We’ll update if we learn any additional details.
