Seattle Animal Shelter encourages owners to license local pets

The Seattle Animal Shelter (2061 15th Ave W) is encouraging locals to license their pets during National Pet ID Week this week at their Protect Your Pet clinic event this Friday, April 22.

Locals who purchase or renew their pet’s license at the Seattle Animal Shelter during the clinic will receive a free rabies vaccine for the licensed pet from Good Neighbor Vet.

Microchips and other vaccines will be available for an additional fee.

Licensed pets that get lost are often spared a trip to the shelter or to a vet when they are found. The Seattle Animal Shelter’s phone number is engraved in the license, and a simple phone call to the shelter will help identify the pet and its owner.

“Pet licenses help lost pets get back home,” says Don Jordan, Seattle Animal Shelter director. “But reuniting lost pets with their families is only the beginning of the benefits of licensing your pet.”

Services are first-come, first-served. All dogs must be leashed, and all cats must be in carriers. Previous vaccination records are not required, but you are encouraged to bring them, if available.

License fees for cats and dogs that have been spayed or neutered are $30-$40 for two years. Unaltered cat and dog two-year license fees are $49-$76. Seniors and adults with disabilities may receive a discount by supplying their Seattle Gold or FLASH card number.

Pet license fees directly support the shelter’s lifesaving work.

The Protect Your Pet clinic will be open this Friday from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m.

  1. It would be great for every pet from the shelter to find its home. Recently I chose a dog there, and I’m extremely happy about it. Thanks to this source, I was able to provide him with everything he needed https://mypetguru.com/custom-dog-tags/ After all, for me now this is a full-fledged member of the family and I want to provide him with all the best.
