PNA on lookout for 30 local volunteers

As the My Ballard team reported earlier this year, the Phinney Neighborhood Association’s PNA Village has expanded to Ballard and the team is currently seeking 30 more volunteers.

The program is geared towards seniors to allow them to stay in their own homes as they age and get some of the smaller errands and tasks done with volunteer assistance.

As a volunteer, a person can be either a “Handy Helper”, a “Friendly Visitor”, or a “Village Driver”.  Examples of tasks that members can request help with include grocery shopping, moving items to a storage area, changing light bulbs that you can no longer reach, getting a ride to the library, or having a weekly phone chat.

The PNA Village has been serving Phinney and Greenwood and Broadview for three years and has now expanded to include Ballard, Broadview and Bitter Lake.

The next scheduled training dates are set for May 21, June 6 and July 17 at Greenwood Senior Center (525 N 85th St).
