Mobile Medical Unit to visit Ballard Food Bank twice this month

The Mobile Medical Clinic, that provides basic medical care, dental care, and social services to homeless individuals and families living in Seattle and south King County, is coming to the Ballard Food Bank (5130 Leary Ave NW) twice this month.

The Clinic will be in the neighborhood on Thursday, August 11, and Tuesday, August 23 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

The program does not charge a fee and does not require insurance. Homeless people needing care can walk up to the program’s medical van.

No appointment is necessary – please note that the last patients are taken 30-60 minutes before closing time.

The medical van team can assist homeless people to apply for public medical insurance such as Medicaid. The team can also help people link to other community services to address the following needs:

  • Housing or shelter
  • A doctor’s office that can provide follow-up care
  • Mental health care, including counseling
  • Substance abuse treatment
  • SSI benefits applications
  • Domestic violence problems
  • Food

The medical van does not carry narcotics nor provide any prescription pain medications.
